Protest like a pro

Protest guidelines

I kindly ask that you follow these guidelines when you carry our messages:

Understand the messages you transmit

If you hold up a protest sign then you should grok the message. If my sign says, "End Civil War 2.0" then I should be able to articulate why this is Civil War 2.0 and what we are doing to end it.

understand your message

Holding a protest sign is an expression of your own personal beliefs, and you should understand what you are saying.

Don't let other people or parties speak for you.

Treat other people with respect and dignity

Be polite to other people, especially the ones you don't like.

We are not associated with any other movements

I do not partner with anyone and it is improper for you to imply otherwise. We are politically neutral and prefer to avoid partisan issues. It is also risky for other groups that receive dark money funding to associate with us because we are going after their primary channels that they use to influence politics, and this can hurt their funding.

No fund-raising

Not in our name. Anyone doing so is ripping you off. We do not raise funds or accept donations.

No paid protesters

Do not pay anyone to protest or to hold a sign. It gets the message out, but damages our integrity. Integrity is our most valuable asset and it must be protected.

Non-violence is non-negotiable

I will not tolerate violent extremists that undermine our message and destabilize our democracy. At the same time I don't want a crowd of people pointing a finger at someone and yelling "Shame!" There is a better way.

  • Politely let them know that their behavior in unacceptable our community.
  • Support their effort so that they don't have to confront angry individuals alone.
  • I'm asking you to show courage and it's a courage that would be difficult for me as well but my democracy is too important and allowing such behavior legitimizes it.
  • The police are there to help. They can be much more effective if we can help them stop this nonsense before it becomes a riot. We all want safe communities.

I believe in community standards that we generally agree on. It's like the general will on a smaller scales like cities. Please make your communities better by enforcing it.

Be excellent to each other, and party on dude

We are all on the same team. It doesn't matter if you're wearing a Misfits shirt or an American flag. That's the America I know and love. Several programs and ideas about diversity and inclusion have floated around over the years with similar ideas and names. I'd like to include the best ideas into a very old program I learned about while living in the south.

INFO

Just be a Good Neighbor

Yeah, that's pretty much it. Being a good neighbor is about a diversity of ideas rather than of physical traits. It's about knowing the strengths and weaknesses of your coworkers and using your strengths to help others where they are weak. We have conventional thinkers forming the core values and backbone of our society. We want to hear the best output of those thinkers instead of what media wants us to hear.

The weakness of conventional thinking alone is lack of growth and you need the ideas of unconventional thinkers like me in the mix because it makes all of us stronger. We are the growth stocks in our country's portfolio. Unconventional ideas should be skeptically evaluated and tested thoroughly before adopting them. Ideas that cannot be made consistent must be rejected.
