Waste of legislative time
Waste of legislative time
I cringe when I think about the legislative time we spend dealing with party issues. There are tons of rules in place just to handle party shenanigans and they trigger constantly which slows things to a crawl.
Infighting
It's amazing that we get anything done at all when 49% of our legislature is actively sabotaging the 51% in control every single time. It's because your policies are so far apart, and far from what the American public wants. In the thousands of meetings I've been in, I have never seen a group of people this dysfunctional.
Get rid of the parties and you get rid of this problem.
Gerrymandering
Hey, if you can't win in a free and fair election you can just redraw the map! Somehow we excuse this as normal, or at least our media does. Hey parties: YOU ARE LITERALLY RIGGING AN ELECTION. We know already you are weasels, but it's kind of embarrassing when the rest of the world sees it. You aren't fooling anyone, you've just been able to get away with it until now. I would love to see a CBO analysis on how much money we waste with this tomfoolery.
We could probably balance the budget just by getting rid of the parties.
Let's get rid of the two tribes and have every legislator vote their individual will. You know, like how American democracy is supposed to work. I don't think I'm asking for much.
